On April 4, they held a tasting of projects from “gastro-enthusiasts” as part of the First Russian Street Food Award Streaters.

The Kish me project offered quiche-lorenas and tarts – alternatives to pies and pies, where the basis is thin puff pastry with various fillings. A large selection of quiches: classic Lorraine, quiche with mashed potatoes and honey mushrooms, quiche with spinach, cheese quiche. Rice culture in the heart of Spain
Today we will begin the story about specific restaurants with a place that can and should be attributed to the type of “unexpected discovery” or “star in the outback”. This restaurant is located away from busy and noisy tourist routes and, nevertheless, is a symbolic place for connoisseurs of Spanish cuisine. It is not very easy to find in reference books, but among your gourmet friends there is hardly anyone who has not had dinner at Paco Gandia at least once in his life. I had lunch, because a good arroceria, a restaurant specializing in rice and oriented to the Spaniards, and not to tourists, can be recognized by the hours of work – it works only for lunch. At dinner, the Spaniards do not eat rice: firstly, they consider it too dense food for dinner, and secondly, they are so used to for hundreds of years.

Menu from Boulanger, or what was served to visitors of the first French restaurants
The menu of the first restaurant in Paris did not differ in a wide selection of dishes. It was possible to order only broth or soup. And these dishes had a therapeutic purpose – to “restore the life” of visitors.
People from ancient times believed that soup is an excellent remedy. Recent studies have shown that chicken soup has soothing and anti-inflammatory properties. But already at the beginning of the XII century, doctors recommended chicken soup to fight colds. And even the world’s first restaurant served only liquid dishes, in particular broths.
In the 1700s, the French catering system was quite developed. At that time, most city dwellers did not have full kitchens in their homes. And so most Parisians ate from common boilers of street vendors or in local hotels. Continue reading
