Best restaurants in Cologne

You can easily find typical sausage and sauerkraut in Cologne, the city has long expanded its culinary repertoire outside the German stereotype, having mastered international cuisine. Michelin stars now adorn many restaurants in Cologne, and the menu includes influences from different regions, from France to the Far East. Cologne restaurants in this selection were grouped into three categories: expensive (more than 45 €), moderate (25 € – 45 €) and cheap (up to 25 €). La poele d’or

The menu includes original dishes like veal with foie gras, as well as more traditional favorites like guinea fowl and sea bass. The small size and cozy atmosphere make the restaurant one of the best places for lunch in Cologne.

Restaurant Taku
Armed with a Michelin star, this clean, modern restaurant combines tastes from all over Asia with a spirit of hospitality. Chef Nicholas von Ayursperg brings together traditions from Malaysia, Thailand, China, Vietnam and Indonesia to create a modern experimental menu. This place also belongs to the category of expensive.

Em Krutzche
Restaurant Em Krutzche is located in a 16th-century house on a river in Altstadt. Here you can eat in the same traditional paneled dining room where Bill Clinton and Tony Blair enjoyed excellent local and regional culinary. Haxenhaus zum rheingarten

So if you want to try traditional German cuisine, you can find the best place in Cologne. Be sure to order a baked boar, dumplings and cabbage.

Bistro Restaurant Herbert Brockel
German cuisine is the main skate in this restaurant, focusing on Rhine Valley food. Their wine list offers more than 250 German wines, and the menu contains no less than the number of dishes. Herbert Brockel is a 30-minute drive from Cologne city center, but you will dine at one of the “100 Best Restaurants in Germany”.

Brauhaus sion
Having considered a few moderate restaurants, we move on to cheaper establishments. Brauhaus Sion is a traditional beer hall with wood paneling and many local Cologne dishes, such as reibekuchen (potato pancakes) and sauerbraten (beef marinated in vinegar). Brauhaus often provides the stage for local musicians performing traditional music.

Wackes
The generally accepted comfortable rustic style of the Wackes restaurant is unlikely to betray one of Cologne’s best establishments. It serves traditional Alsatian cuisine, while flammkuchen (Alsatian pizza) is considered the main dish. This delicious dish is made with cream, sour cream and bacon. As a dessert, you can treat yourself to a portion of caramelized banana and popcorn ice cream.
Curry Cologne
Be sure to try the German appetizer currywurst (seasoned with curry sausage) with fried potatoes and sauerkraut. The inexpensive Curry Cologne restaurant also offers a wide range of sausages and ketchups for sausages. This place is always cheap, tasty and funny.
