Michelin-starred Barcelona restaurants
The Spaniards are great lovers and connoisseurs of good cuisine, since the climate, sea and traditions give them a unique feast culture, joyful, vibrant, with intense tastes and aromas and without any frills in the cooking technique. In recent years, a new generation of chefs has come onto the stage of Spanish gastronomy – young, desperate heads who are ready to experiment with traditional cuisine, but above all, excellent professionals who have gone through a tough international school. It is they who today own the majority of the stars awarded by the famous Michelin rating.
Michelin-starred Barcelona restaurants are mostly small establishments with creative cuisine, thoughtful design, specific atmosphere and prices, often pleasantly different from French and Geneva. The main difference lies in the plane of the price category, decor and decor – it remains only to choose a combination to your taste. By the way, most of the “star” establishments are located at luxury hotels, which is rather not a trend, but a tradition: the best restaurants in Catalonia have long been located at the living rooms. We offer a list of Barcelona restaurants with Michelin stars.
Dating back to 2000, this sophisticated restaurant, the only one in Barcelona with two Michelin stars, is housed in the five-star ABaC Boutique Hotel in the prestigious Tibidabo area. Recognized by the Academy of Gastronomy as the best restaurant in Catalonia in 2011, ABaC offers innovative cuisine based on tradition and impeccable, albeit slightly “cold” service. Jordi Cruz, the youngest Spanish chef who creates a Michelin star at the age of 25 and has many prestigious awards and titles in his luggage, creates in the kitchen.
Among his masterpieces are liquid parmesan gnocchi with bergamot oil and truffle nuts, veal tartar with mustard veil, pickled mackerel with saffron, avocado and crab tartar with ice cream from basil or spaghetti a la bologne. All meals are served on Versace service dishes. Playing with light and using all shades of white in the interior, from ecru to almost beige, creates an elegant and at the same time cozy atmosphere, which tunes in a chamber way for a quiet business conversation or a romantic meeting. From the terrace and from every table inside the establishment you can see the magnificent hotel garden, which, by the way, is housed in a former noble mansion, converted by architect Antoni de Moragas into an ultramodern building. For an aperitif or digestif, it is recommended to look into the avant-garde Lounge Bar with antique arches, a glass bar counter and the famous Chester sofas. Bodega has over 1000 wines.
An imaginative table setting and elegant modernist interior inspired by the great Gaudi from Thai designer Ou Baholydhin. Lasarte has two Michelin stars – according to international standards, this automatically classifies the restaurant’s creations as works of art. It is worth making sure that this statement is true, you should try such restaurant dishes as shrimp with a flank of sea urchins and caviar from sheep’s milk, millefeuille from green apple, foie gras and smoked eel, crispy oysters with a salad of citrus and smoked mackerel or baked pigeon with pork ears, spinach and porcini mushroom sauce.
